Sundance Resort — Utah County
Healing heroes through family connection and restorative recreation.

Established in 2023, the Mountain Veterans Project Area reflects Utah’s enduring gratitude to those who served. In partnership with Utah County and Storyteller Canyon property owner, MIDA is developing a 63-room ADA-designed lodge set to open in January 2026. Operated by the nonprofit Mountain Veterans Program, the facility will host wounded veterans and their families for year-round adaptive recreation, rehabilitation, and skills training. This project combines natural beauty with compassionate design, creating a sanctuary for healing and renewal.

Veterans are another cornerstone of Utah's military community. With more than 140,000 veterans calling Utah home, our state has a proud tradition of honoring those who have served. Organizations like the Utah Department of Veterans & Military Affairs work tirelessly to ensure that our veterans receive the support they deserve. MIDA established the Mountain Veterans Project Area at Sundance Resort in 2023 at the invitation of Utah County. Wounded veterans transitioning from hospital and rehabilitation centers will be able to visit year-round with their families and other primary caregivers to learn techniques they can apply to home life.
Supporting our military at Sundance Resort and across all of our project areas, bringing unrivaled economic impact to Utah, and helping local community partners accomplish their goals to remain resilient have been hallmarks of both MIDA’s work and our great state’s multi-faceted commitment to a strong military presence, encompassing direct investment in bases, comprehensive care for veterans, and strategic development initiatives.
